Then the man and his wife head the Lord God walking in the garden. It was during the coolest time of the day. They hid from the lord God among the trees of the garden. – Genesis 3:8

How many times have we “hid” from what God has wanted for us? I know that there have been several times that I have acted before consulting God and then “hid” afterwards. The reason why we should always consult God before doing things is so that we can get a sign from him that this is what he wants us to do.

An example of this is when I jumped at being the Supper Coordinator at my former church. I jumped at this position when I really should have prayed. In this position, I cooked for 40-60 people every Wednesday. On my first Wednesday, the previous Supper Coordinator was supposed to come and help me. That was not the case though. Lucky for me, my husband was there.

Now I could have asked for helpers but, I didn’t want to essentially bother anyone. Eventually, only a handful of people would either help me cook, serve, or clean up. In the end, I started getting burned out on it.

Then, Hurricane Irma happened. I was beyond tired at this point. I had just spent almost a week without power and then had to deal with cleaning up the aftermath in my house due to spoiled food as well as finding another place to live. We had found a place but, Irma saw to it that it was messed up.

I have never prayed so much in my entire life as I had during and after Irma. But we were lucky though. We eventually had some friends say that we could stay with them. It has been a tough road as it can be anytime you are living with other people but, we are making it work. I know that all of this is possible by God’s grace.

So, have you ever “hidden” from what God has wanted for you? How did it make you feel? What did you end up doing?
