A letter to my children

I love you girls dearly, but please stop fighting.  I don’t care who took what from whom.  I just want you to quit fighting.

No, you may not have cheese balls for breakfast. Have a bowl of cereal.  I don’t care if you like it or not. Eat it. You don’t even have to put milk on it. No, you may not have chips or pretzels either.  Please leave me alone for ten minutes so that I may drink my coffee.

I love you girls very much; but please be quiet and go to sleep.  You are shredding what little sanity mommy has left for the day. I’m tired and I want to go to bed before 3 in the morning.

It is not time to eat and no you may not have anything. Dinner was when I asked you what you wanted and you didn’t eat what you asked for. No, you may not make your bed up.  That was supposed to be done after dinner when I told you it was time to get ready for bed.

No you may not sleep in my bed.  You have your own bed for a reason and I don’t feel like being kicked or punched all night by you flailing arms and legs. Please, please, please go to bed and go to sleep.

Mommy needs some time to unwind and if she’s really lucky, decent sleep.

Do you ever find yourself saying this or similar things to your kids? I find myself doing this on an almost daily basis. Don’t get me wrong, I love my children dearly but sometimes, I want to run and hide.

I feel like I’m a broken record when it comes to asking my kids to clean up every night before bed. I’ll be celebrating when the day arrives of no longer having to tell them to do so – they would just know to do it on their own!

I will welcome that day too. Sometimes they will do it on their own. It just depends on their mood that particular day.

I’m right there with you! Mom life can be tough. I just wrote a post similar to this last week… there must be something in the water. https://sunflowersinsummer.wordpress.com/2017/10/17/at-the-end-of-my-mommy-rope/

Yes, sometimes I want to run and hide especially at night time. Bedtime can not come faster enough here.

  4. I pretty much say each and every one of these phrases every single day. I love them to death, but my goodness, some days they drive me crazy and to the edge of madness. LOL.

I feel you on this mama! Does it ever stop? lol

I wonder if it ever will!

  6. Yes, sometimes motherhood just feels like a record on repeat! x
