Also pick up the shield of faith. With it you can put out all the flaming arrows of the evil one. -Ephesians 6:16
Have you ever felt like you needed a shield to protect you from the rest of the world?
There have been times where I have felt the same way. So, I raise my shield and sometimes hide behind it. But, I have realized that by always doing this, I am not preparing for battle. Instead, I am just cowering.
I mean lets face it, life is hard. The economy still stinks, there are more people needing jobs than there are jobs, an there just aren’t the resources available to help everyone. I recently watched the movie called. “The Internship”. It is a movie about two middle aged guys who get laid off and decide to take an internship position at Google.
In the movie, Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn are teamed up with three younger people in their early 20’s. These kids as I will call them, were always told to get their education. Once they did, they found that it was difficult to get a job. Sadly, this is true even now.
I think that with the way the world is, we tend to get lost some. But, if you think about it, that really isn’t that hard to do. With the increasing of technology, it is very easy to become lost in the world.
It also doesn’t help that the the world expects us to be perfect. The world deems it necessary to weigh a certain amount, have x amount of children, and just have everything that we want.
But, in all reality, we are not promised today or tomorrow for that matter. And we should count our blessings that the good Lord wants us to raise a shield to defend ourselves against the evils of the world.Tags: children, college, courage, education, faith, fight, God, internship, shield, work
